About us

Welcome to the Casa de Moyo

I’m delighted to introduce you to Casa de Moyo, a sanctuary for creativity and artistic exploration in Uruguay. “Moyo,” meaning “heart” in Shona, captures our mission: to be a house of hearts—a space dedicated to nurturing the creative spirit in everyone, from visual artists to writers and musicians.

At Casa de Moyo, we offer a unique landing pad for artists at various stages of their residency journey. While we are still developing our studio facilities, we already provide space for solo work in printmaking, painting, glasswork, and soon-to-be ceramics. Whether you’re seeking a quiet retreat or a collaborative experience, we tailor each stay to your needs.

Casa de Moyo fosters cross-cultural connections with a reach extending from Montevideo to Buenos Aires. Our program offers collaborations with local artists, opportunities to explore museums, and inspirational trips through downtown Montevideo or the beautiful Uruguayan coast. Community engagement is central to our mission, and we invite residents to contribute through educational outreach and dialogues that enrich both the artist and the local community.

We invite artists of all backgrounds to join us in this evolving space. Whether you’re looking for a solo retreat or an interactive experience, Casa de Moyo is here to support and elevate your artistic journey.

What makes Casa de Moyo different?

Casa de Moyo offers tailored experiences for artists to either explore unfamiliar media or deepen their own craft and series. We collaborate with masters across various disciplines, such as Claudia, a Master of Glass and Stained Glass, who invites artists to her fully equipped studio just 30 minutes away for immersive workshops. In Buenos Aires, Matias Amici, a renowned print master at MAGMA Studio, provides specialized printmaking sessions, enriching the creative journey of our residents.

These partnerships allow artists to refine their skills and gain hands-on expertise from seasoned professionals.

Casa de Moyo offers tailored opportunities for every artist.
